Land Arts of the American West
Informational Meeting and Q&A
February 11, 1 – 2 pm
Art Building, Bunting Visual Resources Library, Room 304b
Land Arts of the American West (LAAW) is a Fall Semester (12CR HR), interdisciplinary, field-based studio art program for Graduate and Advanced Undergraduates at the University of New Mexico. As a collective, LAAW travels for up to six nonconsecutive weeks while camping in remote locations across the Southwest and exploring the ecology of place. The remainder of the semester is spent in intensive seminar, studio, and preparation for a public exhibition. Students model a professional creative practice through highly independent, student centered creative research, field investigations, studio, and final presentation.
In the Fall 2016, LAAW will be partnering with the Santa Fe Art Institute’s Water Rights Residency.
