The Weathering Oklahoma project involves the communication between Oklahomans in all 77 counties, to create an art piece that depicts weather variations across the state. MFA Candidate Leslie Martin has used steel to cut out the shape of each of the 77 counties in Oklahoma, and is planning a 2 week road trip next spring where she will install each piece of steel in each county. The metal will be at full exposure to the weather from March to June of 2016, during Oklahoma’s most severe weather. Each piece will then be returned to her, and she will piece the state of Oklahoma back together. She is interested in the impact that the weather might make on each piece of metal and these variations across the entire state.
