Event Details

Please join Roey Victoria Heifetz for a presentation of her work: large-scale expressive drawings and a screening of the video Block of Clay (7min). She will take questions after the presentation. You may log on to the Zoom presentation.

Roey Victoria’s intimate drawings and candid video and film are shaped by her own observations of transgender communities; the discrepancy between gendered social expectations; themes of violence and memory; and the realness of the physical transformation of the body and the psychological and emotional journey as she moves closer to her female body. Her images depict both imaginary and actual transgender women with an introspective exploration of her own identity in the face of recognitions of allowance, disempowerment, and acceptance. This event is jointly sponsored by the International Studies Institute, the Department of Art, the Women, Gender & Sexuality Studies program, the Department of English, and the Consulate General of Israel.
