SITE Scholars Exhibition: “There is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in”

Five UNM Department of Art graduate students and Alumni are featured in this show. Inspired by the lyrics of musician/poet Leonard Cohen, this exhibition explores light illuminating the darkness- both literally and metaphorically. The past year has exposed inconceivable cracks in our personal and public worlds, but Cohen’s lyric, “there is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in”, is a reminder that this is not a place of perfection, there are flaws and within those flaws are possibilities for change, growth, and renewal. Sometimes, through the process of repairing that which has been divided, we can create something more beautiful and resilient. This multimedia group exhibition highlights the symbolism of light and darkness through experimentation, hidden forces, intuition, the unseen, systems and illusions, the relationship between participant and observer, and how we see and communicate through vision and imagination.
