Lenka Clayton is a British-American interdisciplinary artist based in Pittsburgh whose work transforms the ordinary into the poetic, humorous, and unexpected by re-examining everyday situations and objects. Her practice spans drawing, sculpture, performance, film, video, and installation, often engaging systems of collection, re-ordering, and conceptual re-framing to reveal hidden narratives and patterns in daily life. Clayton is the founder of An Artist Residency in Motherhood, a self-directed, open-source residency that supports artists who are also parents, now with participants in over 60 countries. Her collaborative and solo projects include large-scale commissions and exhibitions at institutions such as the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Carnegie Museum of Art, The Fabric Workshop and Museum, Blanton Museum of Art, and Cantor Arts Center; she has represented work at the Carnegie International and exhibited in group shows worldwide. Clayton’s work is held in prominent public collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Blanton Museum of Art, and Carnegie Museum of Art, and she has been represented by Catharine Clark Gallery since 2019.
