Anderson has also been selected as one of the 2024 Joan Mitchell Fellows. His remarkable work, which explores the tension between external perception and internal experience through abstract representations, has earned him this prestigious recognition.

As a Joan Mitchell Fellow, Scott will receive $60,000 in unrestricted funds over five years, along with opportunities for skills development, peer exchange, and network building. This honor places Scott among 15 talented artists from across the U.S. who are being supported to push the boundaries of their artistic practices. The selection process for this year involved 86 nominators and 154 applications.

Christa Blatchford, Executive Director, shared: “Our 2024 Fellows, including Scott Anderson, represent innovative approaches in artmaking. These grants will have a transformative impact on their work and lives.”

The Joan Mitchell Fellowship has awarded $3.6 million directly to artists, providing not only financial support but also invaluable opportunities for workshops, artist exchanges, and coaching.

Anderson stated, “I’m Humbled and excited to be included among the 2024 Joan Mitchell Fellowship recipients! Looking forward to honoring such an amazing gift as well as meeting the rest of this year’s cohort. Thank you.”

Congratulations once again to Scott Anderson and all the 2024 Joan Mitchell Fellows!
