Art History Student Selected for Competitive Georgia O’Keeffe Museum Internship

The Art History program at UNM emphasizes the study of visual art as a means of understanding the intellectual and cultural history of humanity. The program provides a firm grounding in art history and covers a geographical and chronological range of art history. Skills acquired through an art history degree include strong writing and critical thinking skills, as well as a refined sense of looking critically at the visual world around us.

One of the UNM art history undergraduates has recently accepted a competitive summer internship at the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum in Santa Fe. Draven Gallegos is one of the driven and motivated undergraduates. Gallegos is interested in pursuing graduate studies with a focus on museum work and considering art conservation. Regarding this opportunity, she said, “I can’t wait to learn more about being in a museum environment, especially learning more about radiographic technologies used in Art History. I hope to engage the public with such iconic works but also to inform them of Indigenous perspectives. This opportunity will be a great experience as I prepare for graduate school!”
