Art Practices

Art Practices interdisciplinary curriculum is structured around thematic units, introducing students to the conceptual issues that all artists must consider.

In each of these units, studio assignments and readings are designed to expand students’ understanding of fundamental ideas by exploring new and unexpected approaches. These themes include light, frame, mark, motive, change, and time.

In conjunction with studio assignments, students engage with contemporary art and critical discourse through in-class discussions and writing assignments. The ultimate goal of these classes is to develop each student’s critical thinking and visual problem-solving skills, while encouraging them to engage in an in-depth exploration of specific materials and the nature of artistic meaning.
