Femininition

Feminition is a multimedia installation by artists Petra Marguerite and Caroline Yezer that explores the intersections of eco-feminism and the uncanny realm of premonition. The artists recontextualize reclaimed materials from scientific publications to deconstructed furniture. These sculptures ask us to rethink the assumed hierarchy of nature and society, and subjectivity and rationality. Viewers are invited to imagine new worlds where suppressed human intuition and ancestral knowledge can be used to build a better future. Feminition challenges us to reclaim mystical practices and inner knowing as a kind of resistance against ecological and patriarchal collapse.

Marguerite and Yezer are Fellows of the SVA x UNM-Taos Residency Program, a fully funded month in NYC open to UNM-Taos students to develop their artistic practice and concepts. The show opening will be accompanied by a presentation from both artists on their experience at the program.
